Carolyn Murphy on swapping 'debauchery' for wellness

Carolyn Murphy swapped "debauchery" for "devotion and dedication" to take better care of herself.
The 53-year-old model has opened up about her rise to fame as a supermodel in the 1990s, and how she learned to embrace "wellness" as part of her life.
She told PEOPLE magazine: "You know, the debauchery was fun and par for the course, but in my early 20s, I realised I didn’t feel good.
“I was on the plane every other day, and on these long shoots, and I was exhausted. So I decided at that time that I wanted to feel better, partly because so much of my job is about performance.
“I wanted to optimise and look my best and feel my best. Because yes, I can drink all the coffee and skip meals that I want, but then I was going to have low energy and not feel good.
"So I realised I could find other ways of self-care, and then I think my self-care became more about devotion and dedication, as opposed to this kind of pressure to be perfect.”
Carolyn, who has revealed her new role as partner and chief brand officer for Infinity Wellness, didn't want it to feel "unattainable".
When it comes to her own regimen, she still does yoga, and makes sure to get some sunshine each day.
She added: “My health routines have always been about vitality. It’s like, how do I want to feel my most vital?
"Same with meditation and breath work, which for me is so much more about release and about my mental health.”
Meanwhile, the model also loves getting outside with her and her ex Jake Schroeder's 25-year-old daughter Dylan, and she tries to walk "at least 20, 40 minutes a day".
Despite looking after herself - which includes disconnecting from technology - Carolyn still likes to indulge, whether that's by watching Love Is Blind or eating a bag of Doritos.
She admitted: “It’s all about moderation. I don’t want people to think I’m a total do-gooder and living my life in perfection, because I’m not.
"I mean, really, that’s where we get so hard on ourselves, and that inner voice comes in and that critic, when it’s just really about integrating routines into your life.
"And if you fall off, you can always get back on the health train.”
