It has been reported that the rate of sexual cases involving teens in a well-known religious state of Malaysia, Kelantan has been increasing to a ‘worrying’ state…

Some commented saying that the Paris of Malaya is making a return, remembering how ‘untamed’ and wild Kelantan was back in those days before the ruling of a political party, Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party, but commonly referred to as Parti Islam, or PAS took over in year 1990 with the late Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat, better referred to as Nik Aziz or his given nickname, Tok Guru as the state’s president.

For the record, Kelantan has been ruled by the Parti Islam Se-Malaysia (PAS) since 1990. It is now one of the three Malaysian states ruled by PAS after the 2018 election, followed by Terengganu and Kedah.

Kelantan was once known as the Paris of Malaya because of its affiliation with social collapse and prostitution activities that were famous in Malaya at that time, but the term disappeared when it was replaced by the Islamic understanding brought by the state government party, PAS.

And since this really is a worrying matter involving underaged kinds most of which are still in schools, many people are wondering how can a state that is very religious and disciplined such as Kelantan have these sorts of issues, after all the kids are still in school and are still under the watch and care of their guardians at home, and teachers at school…

As written in one of my previous articles here on Newswav, a lot of people have a massive misconception of religion, and in this matter, it doesn’t only apply to the parents, but also the system.

If the government of Kelantan were to take a serious look at this issue as opposed to just talk about it and try to enforce more ‘religious’ programs to hopefully ‘cure’ them, and get them to ‘repent’ from committing more sins and wrong doings, they should probably think other ways to overcome this situation because clearly trying to force more religious acts are not doing much help. It is like hiring a guard to watch over an empty plot of land, there is nothing to ‘guard’ in the first place!

Oppressions are doing nothing much other than filling their minds up with more lust and desires to fulfil, which would only end up causing more trouble in the future, like more cases of teenage pregnancies, suicides and even homicides…

It is very comical and hypocritical of how here in Malaysia, it is illegal for people to have abortions due to religious guidelines, yet there are no actions being made to prevent it from being needed.

When kids are still growing up, it is common for them to feel the urge to experience certain things, and as adults, it is our jobs to provide them with the company and guidance, and not just the guidance of religion, but also guidance of life in general.

We all send kids to school, and we were once in school. And I think it is safe to know how important knowledge is and how big of a role it plays in our lives, right?

If they can look at subjects such as Mathematics, Science, English, Malay and History as the subjects that are crucial to learn and understand, then I really don’t understand, why is it so hard to add Sex Education to the list? If they can teach their kids about religion, like how to pray, and teach them a whole new language on top of that so that they are able to recite the Quran in Arabic, then how hard is it to conduct a simple educational lessons about the importance of safe sex in schools?

It seems to me that there are many people are too obsessed with religion that they tend to forget the other things that are just as equally as important if not even more crucial, and that is how to live life.
