1,000 at pro-Palestine rally in Kunak

KUNAK: The community here expressed its support for Palestine and its disapproval of the attacks by the Israeli Zionist regime.

The Palestine Solidarity Gathering programme was organised by Umno Youth and several non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and lasted about an hour starting at 10am.

Some 1,000 people regardless of age, religious, political and cultural backgrounds, filled the Boheyan Plaza parking lot square in town to express their feelings on Sunday.

Lahad Datu Divisional Umno Youth Leader, Dato’ Sri Anil Jeet Singh, said the programme was to gather communities here to pray together for the end of the war affecting Palestinians.

“Humanitarian values ​​are very important and very much necessary to defend the rights and lives of Palestinians.

“Today’s rally proves there is a strong unity among NGOs including the youth association in Kunak.

“Our joint message today is to Free and Liberate Palestine. I am with the leaders in this country and state in reiterating Malaysia’s position to continue together with the struggle of the Palestinian people. This is a humanitarian message,” he said.

The crowd also brought Palestinian flags and placards with messages for Palestine to be freed from Israeli occupation.

Many shed tears when the Palestinian lecture was delivered by the guest speaker who cited the death toll of Palestinians since October 7 has reached more than 10,000 including children and civilians as well as the destruction of health facilities.

The assembly also saw poem recitations, a martial arts performance, a performance of A’touna Toufoule’s song, a recitation of Qunut Nazilah’s, Asyghil’s greeting, and Qunut Nazilah’s prayer.
