
PAPAR: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor attended the Santai Rohani Night programme held in conjunction with the district-level Maal Hijrah celebration at the Papar Community Hall, last Sunday.
The event, which drew an estimated 1,000 attendees, offered a relaxed yet spiritual platform for the public to reflect on the meaning of hijrah (migration) and its relevance in modern life.
The programme began with a prayer recitation, followed by a nasyid performance by local group Infaq and a casual spiritual discourse segment (Bicara Santai) featuring renowned preachers Datuk Ustaz Kazim Elias, Ustaz Abdullah Khairi and Ustaz Nabil Ahmad.

One of the event’s highlights was the presentation of the Maal Hijrah Figure Awards to two outstanding individuals in recognition of their contributions to the community. Datuk Abd Jaafear @ Abd Jaafar Henry received the award in the male category, while Ustazah Jamilah Abdul Razak was honoured in the female category.
Also present were State Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Datuk Mohd Arifin Mohd Arif, Assistant Minister of Rural Development, Datuk Samad Jamri, Kawang Assemblyman Datuk Ghulam Khan Bahadar, Pantai Dalit Assemblyman Datuk Jasnih Daya, Director of the Institute for Government and People Cooperation (Ikrar), Azrul Ibrahim, and Papar District Officer Muhammad Mohd Ali.
The programme aimed to foster spiritual awareness, community bonding and appreciation of Islamic values in a format accessible to the broader public, particularly youth.
