GOMBAK, March 23 — Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated), or MBI, today channelled RM750,000 in aid to 1,500 residents here in conjunction with Aidilfitri.
Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the contribution was directed to residents in the Sungai Tua, Gombak Setia and Hulu Kelang state constituencies.
“This contribution is an annual MBI initiative and has been channelled for nearly 10 years, aimed at alleviating the burden of the needy ahead of Aidilfitri.
“We hope this aid will brighten the days of recipients, who are preparing for Aidilfitri,” he said when met after the aid handover ceremony at the AU2 Ampang Jaya Municipal Council Multipurpose Hall here today.
Meanwhile, recipient Munijah Abu, 69, said she will use the cash aid to buy basic goods.
“For Aidilfitri, we keep it simple, and the kids usually manage it. Maybe I’ll use this aid to buy basic goods,” she said.
Shahaider Zakaria, 63, said he will use the money to fill his grandchildren’s Aidilfitri money packets.
“Praise be to God, I am grateful for today’s contribution. Thank you to the state government; may programmes like this continue in the future,” he said.
Fazilah Abdullah expressed her gratitude for receiving the aid nearly every year, and said it is of great help, especially amid the rising prices of goods.
“I’m thankful to receive Aidilfitri money and goodies. I can save on Raya expenses for my family,” said the 65-year-old, who lives with her husband, three children, and two grandchildren.
