Kota Kinabalu: Some 1,600 people took part in the Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) KK City Neon Night Run to experience the city’s colourful night ambience.

State Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Christina Liew, who officiated the run, said it was the city’s first such event with five neon challenge stations.

The run covering a 3.5km route not only provided a physical challenge to the runners but also enabled them to immerse in the city’s vibrant streets.

“Powered by SESB, the neon night run event tonight takes us through five electrifying challenge stations, with each offering more than meets the eye.

“The neon pillar isn’t just a captivating light display; it’s the beginning of a dazzling spectacle that awaits you.

“Picture the smoke and laser station – it’s not just about mist and light; it’s a sensory experience that will surely ignite your senses.

“Moving forward, the paint and bubble station isn’t just a splash of colours; it’s a whimsical charm of bubbling joy.

“And at the bubble and foam glow station, the runners experience an enchanting atmosphere that will linger in their memories after the run.

“Approaching the neon arch, it symbolises not just the end of a run but a beginning – a new-found appreciation for the unity and spirit that brought all together,” she said.

Liew said the run wasn’t merely a race; it’s a celebration of our community’s unity and resilience.

“It’s a testament to the unwavering spirit of Kota Kinabalu, shining brightly amidst the challenges we’ve faced and overcome together.”

Liew thanked the organisers for putting together the electrifying event and the participating runners for being part of this celebration.
