Kota Kinabalu: At least 1.9 million hectares, or 26 per cent of the Totally Protected Areas (TPAs) in Sabah have been gazetted, while the remaining approximately 300,000ha will be identified and gazetted within three years, said Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister Datuk Abidin Madingkir.
He said these commitments and achievements make Sabah the leader in forest conservation.
“The State Government intends to maintain 64 per cent of the State’s area as forest cover.
“This covers an area of 3.84 million ha or 52pc of the State gazetted as forest reserves and other protection, in line with the Sabah Forest Policy 2018.
