Some 10,000 people gathered Saturday at Dewan Sri Sulaman, Tuaran, to celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri at the Sabah Chief Minister’s Open House, hosted by Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor and his family.
Among the distinguished guests in attendance were Head of State Tun Musa Aman and his wife Toh Puan Faridah Tussin.
Visitors began arriving as early as 10am and were treated to a wide variety of traditional food and beverages.
The festive mood was further enlivened by performances from well-known local artistes, including Marsha Milan, Misha Omar and Fanzi Ruji.
The event also featured the distribution of “duit raya” to underprivileged members of the community.
Speaking at the event, Hajiji expressed his gratitude for the strong turnout, noting that the participation of people from various ethnic and religious backgrounds was a testament to the State’s unity and harmony.
“This Hari Raya gathering serves as a platform for people of all races and religions to come together in the spirit of celebration,” he said.
“I truly appreciate the presence of everyone who made time to attend today. Such events foster the spirit of unity and strengthen the bonds of togetherness in our diverse community,” he said.
