10 best toaster and kettle sets, tried and tested in a real kitchen

Few things rival a cup of tea and a slice (or 10) of toast, which is why the best kettle and toaster sets are worth their weight in gold.

As these two items are often the most used in any kitchen, buying them as a bundle makes perfect sense, with the best sets giving your kitchen that perfectly pulled-together look.

Choosing a set comes down to ensuring both items tick all your boxes. Does the kettle have a fast-boil feature and an easy-pour spout? Does the toaster have deep, wide slots capable of toasting sourdough, along with browning controls so you can get your perfect shade?

I’ve tested some of the best kettle and toaster sets on the market, to help you find the right one for your kitchen. I looked at everything from boiling speeds to how evenly the toast cooked. Keep scrolling for everything you need to know.

Procook gun metal kettle and toaster set

Rating: 5/5

Image from: 10 best toaster and kettle sets, tried and tested in a real kitchen

Best: kettle and toaster set overall

Why we love it

  • Four wide toaster slots
  • Premium build quality
  • 360-degree swivel base makes kettle easy to grab hold of

Take note

  • The shiny exterior shows up fingerprints
  • Outside of toaster gets hot while in use

This Procook kettle and toaster set is the best I tested and is perfect for any household that wants durable designs that also look good.

The kettle has a 1.5l capacity and a 3kW element, so it boils quickly, ideal if you need your morning cuppa in a rush. The 360-degree swivel base has hidden cable storage, so you don’t have excess wires dangling along your countertops. It’s also easy to pick up, especially if you’re left-handed.

The toaster is where this set really stands out with its seven browning settings. In my tests, I found it toasted consistently well across plain white bread and sourdough. While the slots aren’t wide, they are deep, so you can get quite a large bit of toast inside. Procook also makes a wide-slot toaster, which I tested for my review of the best toasters.

There are no fancy functions such as a dedicated bagel setting, but it does defrost and reheat. The reheat setting works very well, bringing toast back to life without overcooking, while the defrost function doesn’t leave the bread soggy or chewy. The toaster also has a high-lift level, so if you are toasting smaller items, you won’t risk burning your fingers.

The outside is super shiny, which means fingerprints will show up, so do expect to add the appliance to your cleaning list. The toaster also gets incredibly hot, so be careful not to knock it while it’s on and make sure that it has plenty of space around it. Clean-up is simple, with a slide-out crumb tray, which can be wiped down after each round of toast.

Overall, the build quality of both appliances is outstanding, making this an easy recommendation as the best toaster and kettle set overall.

Swan Windsor kettle and toaster set

Rating: 5/5

Image from: 10 best toaster and kettle sets, tried and tested in a real kitchen

Best: budget kettle and toaster set

Why we love it

  • Kettle has a quick boil time
  • Kettle doesn't take up too much counter space
  • Great value
  • Nice design

Take note

  • Filter is difficult to remove when cleaning kettle

Swan’s Windsor set is proof that budget doesn’t have to mean poor performance. The kettle has a 1.7l capacity, so it’s big enough for the family. It has a handy water guide on the side, and the relatively slim design means it doesn’t take up too much space on the counter. The kettle is a little noisy, but it does heat up quickly.

There’s a handy water guide on the side (Rachael Penn/The Independent)

The toaster is a two-slice design. It fits a standard slice of bread with ease, but it doesn’t do very well with long sourdough unless you cut it in half or turn it upside down. It has six browning settings – I found four was about the right level: it was nicely toasted, evenly done, and it was easy to get the toast out of the toaster.

Toaster clean-up was simple – the crumb tray slotted out from the bottom so it could just be wiped clean – but the kettle was a little trickier. The filter was a little tough to remove but that’s not something you’re going to be doing on a daily basis, so it shouldn’t cause too many headaches. Overall, this is a nice set that won’t cost you a fortune.

Ninja black kettle and toaster set

Rating: 5/5

Image from: 10 best toaster and kettle sets, tried and tested in a real kitchen

Best: premium kettle and toaster set

Why we love it

  • The toaster can do a lot more than just toast
  • Perfect size for long sourdough slices
  • The kettle has six preset temperatures

Take note

  • The outside of the toaster can get very hot
  • Expensive

For something top-performing that does as much as possible, I’d recommend Ninja’s kettle and toaster set.

The 1.7l kettle has some brilliant functions. There are six preset temperatures (ranging from 60C to 100C) labelled as speciality tea and coffee. It can keep the temperature at the desired boiling point for 30 minutes, so if you’re like me and you click boil and then lose track of time, you won’t have to keep reboiling. It also has a handy water window, so you can boil just what you need. Plus, the kettle feels ergonomic in hand and pours without spilling water everywhere.

You’ll never go back to using a regular kettle after this (Rachael Penn/The Independent)

The toaster is just as fantastic. If you enjoy sourdough bread, you won’t have to cut it down, as the toaster has two extra-long slots. If you want to toast regular bread, you can fit up to four slices. There are seven shade settings and my bread was toasted evenly during tests. You can also use the toaster as a panini press and a grill, with settings for bagels, defrosting and more. I’ve used every setting and they all performed well.

It can easily handle two toasties side by side, so it’s a lot easier when making lunch. On the downside, the outside of the toaster gets very hot and the appliance does take up a fair bit of space.

It’s roomy enough for sourdough (Rachael Penn/The Independent)

Cleaning and maintenance isn’t quite as easy as some of the others on this list. It can be quite easy to get food on the elements when using the grill setting, and if that happens, it can cause a lot of smoke. The crumb tray slots out easily and can be wiped clean, so that part is super simple.

Overall, this Ninja set is a great buy if you want a kettle that can be customised and a toaster that can do more than just toast.

Smeg 50s style kettle and two-slice toaster

Rating: 4/5

Image from: 10 best toaster and kettle sets, tried and tested in a real kitchen

Best: kettle and toaster set for design

Why we love it

  • Retro design
  • Kettle boils quickly
  • Powerful toaster
  • Easy to clean filter and crumb tray

Take note

  • Plastic push buttons make it feel cheaper than its price tag
  • Expensive

If you’re looking for a toaster and kettle set that looks as good as it performs, this is the one for you. The 1.7l kettle is ideal for big tea rounds and it has a 3kW element, so it boils quickly. The 360-degree swivel base is a great touch, especially if you’re left-handed. The kettle is really nice to hold, too, as the handle is chunky enough to get a good grip.

The toaster was also impressive and you can get this set with either a two- or four-slice toaster. I tested the two-slice version, which handled sourdough well, giving a nice, even browning. I was also really impressed with how quickly it defrosted crumpets and sliced bread, with no sogginess in sight.

Maintenance is another plus point. The kettle has a filter that just lifts out for cleaning, and likewise for the crumb tray in the toaster. The matte finish also means no greasy fingerprints show up on the surface. This is a great set that offers good design without lacking performance.

Dualit two-slice lite toaster bundle

Rating: 4/5

Image from: 10 best toaster and kettle sets, tried and tested in a real kitchen

Best: kettle and toaster set for small spaces

Why we love it

  • Doesn’t take up much space
  • Comes with sandwich cages to make toasties
  • You can check toast without restarting the cycle

Take note

  • Kettle has a smaller capacity, compared with some other models

We don’t all have cavernous kitchens but this kettle and toaster set should slot neatly into smaller spaces. The kettle has a less generous capacity of 1l, but this is perfect if you’re just making a mug or two of tea. The 2kW element gets to work quickly, so you won’t be waiting around for ages either. At the side, there are cup markers, so you don’t need to boil more than you need to. It’s also a nice kettle to hold, with a decent handle.

The cup markers mean you’re less likely to waste water (Rachael Penn/The Independent)

The toaster has a two-slice capacity and the slots are nice and wide. I absolutely love that this toaster comes with sandwich cages, so you can make toasties, too. My toast cooked quickly and evenly, with the toaster handling sourdough well, too. Plus, the ‘peek and pop’ function enables you to lift the bread and check how it’s browning, without having to start the whole toasting cycle again.

You can lift your toast up to check on it (Rachael Penn/The Independent)

Cleaning is also straightforward, the crumb tray and filter are removable and washable. I did find that the steel look meant that watermarks and fingerprints showed up but it’s nothing a good rub down won’t solve.

This is a good set for those moving into student digs, a first home or if you have a smaller kitchen and don’t want to take up too much counter space.

Bosch DesignLine stainless steel toaster and kettle

Rating: 4/5

Image from: 10 best toaster and kettle sets, tried and tested in a real kitchen

Best: heavy-duty kettle and toaster set

Why we love it

  • Kettle heats up quickly
  • Comfortable kettle handle
  • Independent browning on both sides of toaster
  • Sleek design

Take note

  • Just a defrost setting on the toaster

Although this pair is not technically a set, you can order both the kettle and toaster direct from Bosch or from third-party retailers such as Amazon. The kettle has a generous 1.7l capacity, it heats up quickly, has auto shut off mode and there’s a handy cup indicator on the side. I also found that the handle gives you a good grip.

The kettle is very easy to handle (Rachael Penn/The Independent)

The toaster is a basic four-slice design. It lacks some of the functions found in models from other brands – there’s no bagel setting here but it does have a defrost button, which defrosts bread in seconds, without leaving it soggy.

During my tests, the toaster handled a thick slice of sourdough with ease, giving an even result. There’s also a good range of browning settings, so you can get your perfect shade. I do love that each of the two sides has an independent browning function. If you prefer your toast well done and your partner likes it barely browned, you can each enjoy your own preferences at the same time.

The defrost function works well (Rachael Penn/The Independent)

Cleaning was fuss free, the brushed stainless steel material meant no pesky fingerprint marks, and the crumb tray and limescale filter both slid out for easy cleaning. This is quite a sturdy set, so it would suit a busy household or it could even be a good choice for the office.

Morphy Richards accents kettle and toaster set

Rating: 4/5

Image from: 10 best toaster and kettle sets, tried and tested in a real kitchen

Best: kettle and toaster set for families

Why we love it

  • Kettle boils quickly
  • Even browning for all bread types
  • Illuminated buttons

Take note

  • No dedicated bagel setting on toaster

With its rounded edges, this Morphy Richards set will look fantastic on any countertop. The kettle has a 1.5l capacity and a 360-degree swivel base, so it’s ideal if you’re left-handed. I really like the looped handle, which makes it easy to pick up the kettle and pour out its contents. Although, you do have to be careful to position your hand to avoid the rising steam as you pour.

There’s a rapid boil element, which works well – there was no waiting around for this kettle, even when it was at maximum capacity.

The looped handle makes for an easy pour (Rachael Penn/The Independent)

The toaster also worked well. It’s basic, in that you just have a defrost function but you can set both sides of different browning settings at the same time. It took a little more time when it came to sourdough, but overall I thought it browned quickly and evenly.

The toaster is basic but works well (Rachael Penn/The Independent)

Maintaining this toaster and kettle set is also straightforward. There’s a removable limescale filter in the kettle and the crumb tray just slots out. Plus, the matte design means no marks show up, so it always looks good. It’s a great set for busy households.

Tower mirage kettle and two-slice toaster

Rating: 5/5

Image from: 10 best toaster and kettle sets, tried and tested in a real kitchen

Best: kettle and toaster set under £100

Why we love it

  • Plenty of options if you don’t just want to cook bread
  • Digital display is easy to use
  • Kettle has rapid-boil technology

Take note

  • Bulky control panel on toaster

This combo from Tower punches well above its budget price point. The kettle has a generous 1.7l capacity paired with rapid boil technology, so there is no waiting around. Plus, you can adjust the temperature of the water between 40-80C, making it ideal if you drink herbal teas or coffee that need to be that bit cooler.

The kettle is really nice to handle, too. It’s a good shape, it’s not too heavy (even when it’s full) and the lid is easy to get on and off (although you do need to make sure the kettle has cooled before removing the lid).

The kettle should be capacious enough for any household (Rachael Penn/The Independent)

The toaster is digital and works well. It has several preset modes, including those for white bread, brown bread, gluten-free slices, muffins, bagels, waffles and a defrost setting. You can adjust the browning level even on the preset modes. The touch-screen controls make it easy to see and cycle through the menu, so it is easy to use, despite looking hi-tech.

Both the toaster and kettle feel really well built and durable. They also look great. Both are easy to clean, with the crumb tray and filter simply slotting out. The only downside is that the toaster is limited to two slices.

Daewoo taupe cascade jug kettle and two-slice toaster set

Rating: 4/5

Image from: 10 best toaster and kettle sets, tried and tested in a real kitchen

Best: kettle and toaster set for colour range

Why we love it

  • Premium-looking set
  • Compact design
  • Fast-boil kettle
  • Good value

Take note

  • A standard slice of white bread doesn’t quite fit in the toaster

This Daewoo set looks way more expensive than it is, thanks to the chic taupe finish and ribbed texture. It’s also a very slimline set, so it fits nicely on the countertop without taking up too much room. The kettle has a 1.7l capacity and a 3kW element, so it boils quickly and keeps its temperature for quite a while afterwards.

This set’s design is nice and compact (Rachael Penn/The Independent)

The toaster works well but it is a little on the small side – a standard white slice of bread doesn’t quite fit, so you will have a bit on the top that’s not toasted unless you flip half way through. However, overall, it toasted evenly. It’s a shame there’s no bagle function, though, as that would’ve cemented it as a premium set.

The defrost setting works well and I particularly loved the reheat function, which brought my toast back to the perfect temperature, without burning it.

I loved the handy reheat function (Rachael Penn/The Independent)

Maintenance is super simple, too. A slide-out crumb tray and removable limescale filter mean it’s a fuss-free process to keep it in tip-top shape.

Dunelm Almalfi toaster and kettle

Rating: 4/5

Image from: 10 best toaster and kettle sets, tried and tested in a real kitchen

Best: no-frills kettle and toaster set

Why we love it

  • Variable-width slots for different breads
  • Sturdy design
  • Easy to use

Take note

  • On the chunky side

If you want a basic toaster and kettle pairing that will last, look good and not be too much fuss to operate, then the Amalfi designs from Dunelm are perfect (although you will have to purchase the two appliances separately).

The 1.7l kettle has a handy one-cup fill marker on the side, so it’s ideal if you’re just making one cuppa and don’t want to waste energy. It reached the boil at a decent pace and is really quiet in use. The design is lovely but the kettle is quite chunky, compared with some other models in this roundup.

You’ll hardly hear the kettle when it’s on (Rachael Penn/The Independent)

The excellent toaster is also on the larger side, but it is a four-slice model. It did just as superb a job with sourdough as it did with plain white bread. There are only defrost and reheat functions available but both worked well. The variable-width slots are brilliant if you like to cook different types of bread, as it keeps each slice in the centre, so you get a nice even toast.

This toaster was great for sourdough (Rachael Penn/The Independent)

Cleaning is also simple – the kettle has a removable filter that pulls out and can be washed, while the toaster’s crumb tray slides out with ease. This set doesn’t do anything fancy, but it does toast and boil very well.

What is the best toaster and kettle set?

Kettles and toasters are the cornerstones of any kitchen, so it’s important to get a good set. My best buy overall is the ProCook gun metal kettle and toaster set. This is a premium set with a large toaster, a kettle that has a good capacity and rapid boil, and it will genuinely look good in any kitchen. If you have a bit more cash to splash, the Ninja black kettle and toaster set is a great choice for extra versatility.

If you’re on a budget, the Swan Windsor kettle and toaster set is a great buy but you are limited to a choice of pink or powder blue colourways. If you want something a bit more subtle but don’t want to spend a fortune, Daewoo’s taupe cascade jug kettle and toaster set is the perfect choice.

How I tested toaster and kettle sets

I put each set through rigorous testing in a real home setup. I’m a tea fiend, so the kettle is on several times a day in my house. I tested the toaster across white bread, sourdough and bagels, to see how each model performed. During testing, I considered the following criteria.
