Malaysia’s diversity at its finest at @amtownkopitiam in Kuchai Lama

Rice for breakfast? Definitely something I never considered before moving to Malaysia, though slowly but surely I’ve come to appreciate the hearty breakfast dishes Malaysia offers. And lucky to have @amtownkopitiam where food for all traditions can be found. Kaya toast with soft-boiled egg, Chili Pan Mee, Dims Sums, Roti Cenai and even Banana Leaf are all available at this convenient halal-friendly place in Kuchai Lama. Clean and comfortable environment, friendly and fast service and taste that proves that the ingredients used are of the best quality.

  1. Nasi Lemak
The rice is steamed with coconut cream or milk, and served with fried anchovies, sambal (spicy shrimp paste), boiled or fried egg, and sometimes peanuts.
  2. Roti Canai
This fried pancake of Indian origin is usually served with dal (lentil-based soup) or kari ikan (fish curry) and is best eaten with bare hands.
  3. Dim Sums
If you prefer snacks to breakfasts, or snacks for breakfast, this bite-sized style of cuisine will suit your palate and your gastronomic fashion. Fresh, flavorful, and steaming, food is typically served in bamboo steamer baskets.
  4. Banana Leaf
A popular South Indian way of serving rice, banana leaf rice is a popular lunch option across Malaysia. The multiple components of rice, curry, assorted vegetables, rasam and side dishes make for a satisfying meal packed with spicy and sour flavours.
  5. Roti Bakar with Kaya and Half Boiled Egg
Crack the egg open in a bowl, pour in the soy sauce, dabble on the pepper and enjoy with a toast filled with kaya coconut jam.
  6. Dry Chili Pan Mee
Flat noodles are tossed in a spicy and umami chilli paste along with ground meat topping that is a popular noodle dish originating in KL.
  7. Curry Puff
A small fried pastry braided on the side and stuffed with curry potatoes and/or chicken.
  8. Char Kuey Teow
Flat rice noodles stir-frying over intense heat in a well-seasoned wok with cockles, Chinese sausage, bean sprouts, and fish cake.
  9. Teh Tarik
A popular hot milk tea beverage, its name is derived from the pouring process of “pulling” the drink during preparation
  10. Cham
Cham lets you have the best of both worlds. With 70% milk tea combined with 30% aromatic white coffee.
