
LAHAD DATU: A nine-foot long crocodile weighing almost 100kg was caught under a tree near Pasar Gantung, here, Monday.
District Civil Defence Force (APM) Officer, Captain (PA) Ahmad Roslan Mohd Kamel said, they received a distress call at 7.20am via MERS999.
A team of APM personnel rushed to the scene and upon arrival, they were informed that the crocodile was resting under a tree near the public toilets.
“The team carried out the operation to catch the crocodile using special equipment and managed to catch the reptile.
“The team ended the operation at 8.08am,” he said.
The reptile was brought back to the APM base before being handed over to the Sabah Wildlife Department.
Ahmad Roslan also advice members of public to contact the relevant authorities in the event of such danger and not to take self action to avoid any untoward incident.
