
SANDAKAN: Life Water Industries Sdn Bhd (Life Water), jointly with the Young Malaysians Movement (YMM), Sandakan Branch collected 77 pints of blood from 103 donors in a campaign themed “Donate Blood for Life”.
The occasion at Sejati Walk, Mile 7, here, last month was one of the many CSR programmes of Life Water, a drinking water manufacturing company which began its very first operation in Sandakan in 2002.
The blood donation campaigns were launched in 2017 with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Duchess of Kent Hospital for a commitment by Life Water to implement quarterly blood donation campaigns and another MoU for the sponsor of drinking water to donors at the Blood Bank Unit. Four MoUs have been signed thus far.
A total of 2,248 pints were collected through 26 campaigns held in Sandakan including from five campaigns held during the Movement Control Order since the campaigns first started.
The yearly collections were 185 pints (in 2017), 465 (2018), 538 (2019), 307 (2020), 453 (2021) and 300 (2022).
Several companies have also lent their support to the campaigns by sponsoring their Sabah-made products to donors.
They were Dong Sin Food Sdn Bhd (sponsor of Mi Dong Sin), Rich Inspiration Sdn Bhd (sponsor of Magic Cook products while Thong Guan Trading/Kimanis Food Industries Sdn Bhd is the sponsor of D-Jack snacks.
