A RESIDENT experienced a tense moment after spotting a three-metre-long, 10kg python entering their yard in Taman Fajar, Sandakan, on Monday afternoon.

The snake was seen hiding under a pile of roofing materials, prompting the resident to call the MERS 999 emergency hotline for assistance.

Personnel from the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) Sandakan rushed to the scene following the report and captured the snake using a snare and snake tongs before releasing it back into its natural habitat.
