TAWAU: Police here issued a total of 11 summonses and seized three motorcycles during an Op Lejang operation conducted along Jalan SMK Kalabakan, last Friday.

Tawau District Police Chief ACP Jasmin Hussin said a total of 30 motorcycles were inspected and 11 summonses issued for various offences.

He said three motorcycles were seized after the Road Transport Department’s Mysikap application was checked to see if any reports of missing motorcycles had been filed.

The owners were then contacted to claim their bikes.

He added that the operation was carried out in two sessions, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, under the direction of SM Marjumin Rasam, the head of the Kalabakan police station.

The morning session was from 7am to 8.30am, while the afternoon session was from 1pm to 2.56pm.

He said that it is part of their approach to convey to the community, parents and students the value of following traffic laws and regulations.

He said doing this is crucial to avert unfortunate events.

According to him, the operation would be carried out periodically to apprehend traffic violators, particularly those who are frequent offenders.
