Based on recent reports, a 11yo boy was declared permanently disabled after being forced to stand under the sun as punishment from school.

The victim suffered a heatstroke after being forced by a teacher to stand under the sun for 3 hours straight on Apr 30.

The boy’s mother A.D. Mogahana Selvi revealed that the Ampang Hospital issued a reference letter for her son to be treated as a PwD due to the severe health issues which stemmed from the punishment.

He now suffers from a nerve condition, that significantly impacts his daily life. She was also informed by the hospital that her son can no longer attend a normal school, and would need to enrol in a special needs school.

The family’s lawyer has come forth to file a civil suit on behalf of the family, against all those who are involved. He spoke about the emotional distress this has caused on the family, especially Mogahana, who is 3 months pregnant.

"Apart from a civil suit, we want the teacher involved to be charged in court and given an appropriate sentence if found guilty” said the lawyer.
