11 youths arrested over boxing tournament brawl released on bail

ELEVEN individuals who were arrested in connection with a violent brawl at a boxing tournament featuring social media influencers at a shopping mall have been granted police bail.

Dang Wangi police chief ACP Sulizmie Affendy Sulaiman told Bernama that the suspects, all men aged between 17 and 28, were among the attendees and supporters at the event that took place last Tuesday, February 25.

The suspects were detained on Wednesday, February 26, and were released on February 27 after undergoing a two-day remand for further investigation.

The police investigation is being carried out under Section 147 of the Penal Code, which deals with the crime of rioting. The investigation files will be forwarded to the Kuala Lumpur Deputy Public Prosecutor's Office for further action.

The authorities are continuing to look into the incident, and the case will be handled by the legal authorities to determine any further actions based on the evidence gathered. – March 1, 2025
