KUNAK: A 12-foot-long crocodile measuring two feet in width was shot dead in the waters off Kampung Pangi near Sarina Beach early Wednesday morning.
District Officer Majaran Osman, who is also the Security Committee Chairman, said the operation involved the Sabah Wildlife Department (SWD), the Civil Defence Force, and the police.
Majaran reminded the public, particularly coastal residents and sea anglers, to remain cautious to avoid crocodile attacks.
He added that the reptile is commonly sighted across Kunak waters, including coastal areas around Kampung Pangkalan, Kampung Buang Sayang, Kampung Kunak Jaya Laut, Kampung Pangi, and Madai.
Last July, a video went viral showing an adult crocodile at the seabed off the Sarina coast near the Darvel Lagoon recreation centre in Kampung Hampilan.
