Wangsa Maju police probe possible insider involvement in the RM2.91 million Pavilion Embassy condo robbery, with 12 witnesses questioned.

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have recorded the statements of 12 witnesses to assist investigations into an armed gang robbery at a luxury condominium in Jalan Ampang here, involving losses of RM2.91 million.

In a statement today, Wangsa Maju police chief ACP Annas Sulaiman said they are still working to identify all the suspects involved.

He added that the investigation would also examine any possibility or element of ‘insider’ involvement or collusion, given that the condominium has strict security controls.

He said that at the time of the robbery, the complainant had been inside the residence with eight other victims.

The media had previously reported that police were actively tracking down a group of masked men, in gloves and armed with knives, who broke into a residential unit at Pavilion Embassy between 2 pm and 3 pm on Sept 7.

The suspects made off with cash, jewellery and luxury watches estimated to be worth RM2.91 million, as well as damaging a mobile phone and stealing the passport of a 28-year-old Chinese national.

The case is being investigated under Sections 395/397 of the Penal Code for gang robbery and armed robbery.

Those with information on the incident are urged to contact the Wangsa Maju district police control centre at 03-9289 9222, Kuala Lumpur police hotline at 03-2115 9999, or any nearby police station.
