
LABUAN: The situation of squatters starting to move and demolish their respective house structures following the final notice of the Illegal Settlement Demolition Operation, which will be implemented in the near future, during a survey in the area near the Muslim Refugee Community Settlement Scheme (SPMP), Friday.
An integrated monitoring session was carried out recently by the lead agency of the Office of the Land and Mines Director of the Federal Territories (PPTGWP) Labuan involving various enforcement agencies, including the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM), National Security Council (MKN), Immigration Department, Fire and Rescue Department Malaysia (JBPM), the Malaysian Civil Defence (APM), as well as the Labuan Corporation, aimed at identifying slum houses built in unauthorised areas.
A total of 121 slum houses have been identified and have been given a final warning by the authorities before carrying out demolition operations in the near future.
Previously, residents in the area were given until after last April to demolish slums along the river and outside the area under the National Security Council.
