Anderlecht player-manager Vincent Kompany may be forced to the sidelines - completely - on Sunday against Standard Liege.

Defeat to Standard will mean Anderlecht's worst start to a season.

While Kompany is out of the game due to injury, he also cannot take any part in the game as manager as he doesn't have the necessary qualifications. Instead, former Manchester United winger and ex-Manchester City coach Simon Davies will be in charge on the day.

"They are wary of the Football Association. The construction of player-manager is already in doubt and nobody is allowed to stand above the law," according to Het Nieuwsblad.

"The Football Association saw some remarkable things in Genk. It was noted, for example, that after his injury, Kompany handed out guidelines to players. Those are the duties of a coach with a diploma, not an injured player."
