14 Iconic TV Characters That Were Only Supposed to Appear Once

Some TV characters arrive with years of story already mapped out. Others are basically hired to walk in, cause a little trouble, and disappear forever. Then an actor clicks with the material so perfectly that everyone involved has to rethink the plan. A character meant for one episode suddenly becomes a fan favorite, a series regular, or even one of the faces people remember most clearly from the entire show. Sometimes the original script literally killed them off. Sometimes the contract covered a single day of work. Either way, television history would look very different if the writers had actually stuck to the plan. Here are 15 iconic TV characters that were only supposed to appear once.
