
TAWAU: Fourteen illegal pipe connections in the slums of Kg Kurnia Jaya Batu 4, Jalan Apas, were cut by the Tawau Water Department personnel, Tuesday.
Tawau District Water Engineer, Abdul Halim Ag Marali, said the illegal connection was tapped directly from the two-inch pipe stand to the slum housing area.
He said the operation was carried out by the contractor of the Tawau District Water Department (JADT) and monitored by its enforcement officers together with the police force.
According to him, the action was taken after his party received information regarding an offence under Section 49(b) of the Sabah State Water Supply Enactment 2003.

In the meantime, he asked the public to cooperate by informing the Water Department if there is any case of theft or leakage of water pipes immediately.
