KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Immigration Department intensified its enforcement efforts against undocumented foreign workers with Ops Gegar on Thursday, targeting premises suspected of hiring foreigners without valid documentation.
The operation, conducted from 8pm to midnight, was based on intelligence and public complaints regarding unauthorised foreign workers in reflexology and spa establishments.
A total of 14 foreign nationals were detained across two locations in the City, including 10 Filipinos—three men and seven women—at the first site, while the second location saw the arrest of four women, comprising three Chinese nationals and one Filipino.
Authorities also detained a Malaysian employer suspected of hiring undocumented workers and seized business licences, logbooks, cash amounting to RM764 and RM800 from both locations and magnetic signboards for further investigation.
The detainees were taken to the Kota Kinabalu Enforcement Division for documentation and are being investigated under the Immigration Act 1959/63 and related regulations, with authorities urging the public to report illegal employment activities.
