A 14-year-old minor girl died under mysterious circumstances in Chatia Aulia village of Sonepat. Her family cremated the body at the village cremation ground without informing the police.
The incident occurred on Thursday. Soon after, village sarpanch Jasbir informed the police, who reached the village and collected the mortal remains from the pyre, and sent them to the FSL for analysis.
The deceased has been identified as Nitya, a student of Class 10 at a government school. After coming from school, the girl went to a neighbour’s house to fetch water.
Later, the girl was found dead in her room under mysterious circumstances.
The sarpanch said the girl died on Thursday at 12 pm and was cremated by her family members at 3 pm. Some women came to him and informed him about the mysterious death and the cremation incident on Friday.
“I have informed the police about the incident and the police came to the village and collected the evidence and also collected mortal remains from the pyre,” he said.
Rishikant, ACP, Gannaur, said a case has been registered against her parents under the sections of murder on the complaint of the village sarpanch. Prima facie, the incident seemed to be a suicide, as the room where the girl was found was locked from the inside.
