Kota Kinabalu: Some 146,737 members of the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) and their spouses nationwide are eligible for early voting this Tuesday.

Chief of Defence Force General Tan Sri Hj Affendi Buang (Royal Malaysian Air Force) in a statement said 153 early polling centres have been set up by the Election Commission (EC).

“However, postal voting began Nov 7 (Monday) with Postal Ballot Paper Priority Envelopes issued to respective electoral division Returning Officers (RO). Voting time ends at 5pm on Nov 19.

“MAF hopes the process of carrying out our duties as Malaysians goes smoothly. We have always been in support of the democratic parliamentary system under the Constitutional Monarchy.

He added that as the North East Monsoon season has begun, assets in the event of a flood especially in high risk states are ready for deployment.

“We will continue to strengthen readiness in order to protect the country’s interests and sovereignty.

“MAF is ready to assist the EC and related authorities from untoward incidents throughout the process even after the results are announced,” he said.
