- The incident occurred around 5am in the Soratoil area of Tangail district, 83km northwest of the capital Dhaka.
- Police reported that the driver lost control of the vehicle, which was carrying iron rods and numerous hitchhiking passengers.
- The passengers were travelling from Dhaka to the northern region as vacationers began their journeys for the Muslim festival Eid al-Adha.
- Bangladesh frequently experiences fatal road accidents due to lax oversight of traffic rules, poor road conditions, and unskilled driving.
