A major fire broke out at the Caffeinees headquarters in Kampung Pandan at around 5.30 PM yesterday (4 March), devastating the top floor and forcing the temporary closure of that section of the restaurant.

Thankfully, no injuries were reported. As revealed in an Instagram post by Caffeinees, the ground floor and the Yamaguchi Fish Market were unaffected and continue to operate. According to a statement released by management, flames spread rapidly across the roof and produced heavy smoke shortly after the fire began.

Heroic efforts and evacuation

Staff immediately alerted emergency services and evacuated everyone from the building to ensure no one was put at risk. Amidst the chaos, management witnessed brave acts by employees who attempted to control the blaze and recover important documents and laptops. However, Caffeinees instructed staff to stop and evacuate immediately, stating, “No property is ever worth risking a life.”

Units from the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), and ambulance teams responded swiftly to the scene. Caffeinees expressed deep gratitude for their professionalism and courage in containing the fire and securing the area.

In a separate Instagram post, Caffeinees highlighted that for 15 years, the second floor had served as more than just an extension of the café.

The post reads:

“It has been a place of laughter, music, late-night conversations, celebrations, friendships, and countless memories shared with all of you.”

“Seeing it affected is heartbreaking, but what matters most is that everyone is safe.”

Commitment to rebuild

Caffeinees has reaffirmed its commitment to rebuild and restore the damaged floor, promising to make the space even better and more meaningful when it reopens. In the meantime, customers are encouraged to visit Black Market, which remains open as usual.

“While Caffeinees HQ (Kampung Pandan) will be temporarily closed, Black Market is operating as usual, and we warmly welcome you there to support us.”

Customers can also visit the other outlet at Sunway Eight Gourmets Hall (EGG) to enjoy their menu.
