Unboxing the 15W Xiaomi UltraThin Magnetic Power Bank 5000mAh

The Xiaomi UltraThin Magnetic Power Bank 5000 15W arrives in a minimalist package that reflects its sleek design. Inside, you’ll find the power bank itself, a short USB-C cable, and documentation. The first impression is its incredibly slim profile; basically thinner than most smartphones you’d find today.
Walkaround

The body of the 15W Xiaomi UltraThin Magnetic Power Bank 5000mAh is compact and lightweight, measuring just 98.5 × 71.5 × 6.0 mm and weighing 98 g. Its magnetic surface makes it ideal for MagSafe-style attachment, and the matte finish feels premium in hand. Of course, it’s not officially called MagSafe since that term is an Apple trademark but for the sake of easier understanding, that’s how we’d call it.

Its small size is largely thanks to the power bank housing advanced Silicon-Carbon battery technology (16% silicon content), which allows for a thinner and lighter build compared to traditional lithium-ion cells. This is the same tech that allows Xiaomi, along with other phone brands, to house a large battery capacity while still retaining a thin chassis. One thing I would like to see in a succeeding model would be bigger capacities, at least ones that will allow it to still retain a thin body, and a built-in kickstand.

Performance

Tested with a Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra (5,000 mAh battery) starting at 20% charge:
- Reached 45% in 20 minutes via USB-C.
- Fully depleted after charging the phone to 93%.
- Delivered approximately 3,650 mAh usable power, accounting for transfer inefficiencies.

This shows that while rated at 5,000 mAh, real-world usable capacity is slightly lower. Do note that this is by no means an indication that Xiaomi is lying by claiming a 3,650mAh power bank as a 5,000mAh power bank as this is normal with power banks due to losses that occur during energy conversion. The inefficiencies come from a mix of voltage regulation, cable resistance, the phone’s charging circuit, and heat.
It’s also worth noting that it supports up to 22.5W of wired charging, while wireless charging will be at a slightly lower 15W. You can also charge two devices at once by utilizing both wired and wireless charging, but be mindful of its small capacity.
Xiaomi UltraThin Magnetic Power Bank 5000mAh Verdict

The Xiaomi UltraThin Magnetic Power Bank 5000 15W is all about portability and convenience. It won’t win on raw charging speed or maximum usable capacity, but its ultra-thin design, magnetic attachment, and efficient Silicon-Carbon battery tech make it an excellent everyday carry option. If you value slimness and practicality over brute force, this is one of the best compact power banks you can get.
Rather than being a power bank that would work great for faraway travel destinations, this is perfect for those with battery anxiety for a simple day outing or even a day at work / school without a charger since it’s portable enough to feel like you’re not carrying around anything extra. But do keep in mind that you’ll be paying a premium with its price tag of RM259, which is still worth buying for me, but a value-seeker might opt for a higher capacity or a faster charging powerbank at that range.
At the end of our Xiaomi UltraThin Magnetic Power Bank 5000 15W review, I award this power bank with our coveted Gold Pokdeward.

Big thanks to Xiaomi Malaysia for sending us this powerbank for the purpose of this review.
