LAHAD DATU: Sixteen illegal immigrants were detained in several Ops Sapu operations by the Immigration Office on Sept 30.

Sabah Immigration in a statement on its Facebook site said 90 individuals were inspected during the operations.

Those arrested were detained under Section 6(1)(c) and Section 15(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63.

Ten of those arrested were Filipinos comprising a man, eight women and a girl.

Six others comprised two Indonesian men and four women.

The operation is part of continuous efforts against illegal immigrants.

The department also urged the public to continue channeling information on the presence of illegal immigrants in their respective areas so that immediate action can be taken.

Sabah Immigration Department also stressed that the department will not compromise with any parties that found sheltering, hiring or colluding the illegal immigrants.

Stern action will be taken according to the national law to ensure the security of our country remains protected.
