
BUTTERWORTH: Fifteen passengers in an express bus had a scare when it skidded before overturning at Km5.5 of the Butterworth Outer Ring Road here early this morning.
Penang fire and rescue department operations commander Faisol Zainudin said those onboard, including the driver, sustained only minor injuries in the 4.20am incident.
“Upon arrival at the scene, the (fire and rescue) team found that an express bus had overturned on the side of the road, and they managed to remove the 16 victims, including the driver, from the vehicle,” he said.
“All the victims – six men and 10 women – were given treatment by the health ministry officials at the scene, before they were taken to Hospital Seberang Jaya for further treatment.”
He said the operation ended at about 5.30am.
