The appearance of animals on the road can often result in a fatal crash for both the animal and the road user.

It was reported this morning that a teenager was killed after he had crashed his motorcycle into a buffalo along Jalan Dengkil Air Hitam, Sepang, this morning.

According to New Straits Times, Sepang police chief Assistant Commissioner Wan Kamarul Azran Wan Yusof said in the 1:30am incident, the 16-year-old boy, who was riding a Yamaha Legenda motorcycle, was killed on the spot due to head injuries.

According to a preliminary investigation, the victim had crashed into the buffalo when the animal suddenly crossed the road.

The victim was riding alone from Dengkil to his house in Taman Dengkil Jaya.

“Paramedics pronounced the victim had died on the spot due to injuries to the head.”

Wan Kamarul added that the victim’s body was taken to Putrajaya Hospital for a post-mortem. The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Meanwhile, it was previously reported by Utusan, that they were complaints by residents around Dengkil about the presence of cattle and buffaloes without owners, especially on the road which is seen to cause accidents. The cattle are left to roam on the road at night causing accidents.

Residents claim that the cows are left unattended and free to move in the Dengkil area, Kampung Ahmad Razali and Jenderam, Dengkil. Just last week, a resident’s car was badly damaged after hitting 3 cows on the road.

Our deepest condolences go towards the victim’s family.
