A 17-year-old Class XII student allegedly committed suicide in Khoh village in Manesar on Thursday afternoon. The victim was alone at her home when the incident occurred. Her body was discovered by her father when he returned home for lunch around 1:30 pm.
According to the police, the deceased student, identified as Priya Kumari, was a resident of Khoh village. Her family, originally from Bihar’s Rohtas district, includes her father, who runs a grocery store, and her mother, a teacher at a private school.
Police reached the spot and found a two-page suicide note from the girl’s school bag. In the note, she wrote about being harassed by a young man at her tuition class. The letter ended with the word “sorry” written 17 times.
Police also examined the victim’s mobile phone, uncovering several chats, including one about the young man harassing and threatening her.
“We are investigating the matter from all angles. The young men whose chats have surfaced are being contacted for questioning,” said a senior police officer.
