180 candidates pass airmen licensure test

THE Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) announced the culmination of a five-day airmen licensure examination in Clark.

A total of 180 candidates passed the test for critical pilot and maintenance roles.

Held from June 15 to 19, the rigorous exams are part of a nationwide push by the Airmen Examination Board (AEB) to bolster aviation safety and operational excellence by certifying new private pilots, commercial pilots and aircraft technicians.

The regular conduct of these theoretical tests aligns with CAAP’s legal mandate under Republic Act 9497 to evaluate the technical knowledge of aspiring aviation professionals.

CAAP Director General Raul del Rosario said that these standardized examinations are critical in ensuring a highly skilled workforce, upholding the safety and excellence of the Philippine aviation industry.

”Developing a strong and capable aviation workforce is essential to ensuring the continued safety, efficiency and growth of the Philippine aviation industry. Through rigorous and standardized licensure examinations, we aim to produce professionals who will uphold the highest standards of aviation excellence,” del Rosario said.

These evaluations are a routine part of CAAP’s regulatory mandate to ensure that all local flight crews and maintenance personnel meet strict international safety and competency standards before operating in Philippine airspace. By enforcing these benchmarks, the agency maintains international safety standards across Philippine skies.

The June 2026 examination at Clark is part of a broader, multiyear strategy by the AEB to make licensing accessible outside of the primary Manila and Cebu examination centers.
