SIPITANG: The Sabah Immigration Department detained 41 individuals in an enforcement operation here on Thursday, including 19 illegal immigrants comprising Indonesian and Filipino nationals.

A department spokesman said the operation, conducted at four premises, resulted in the arrest of 19 individuals suspected of committing offences under the Immigration Act 1959/63.

“All those detained did not possess valid travel documents or permits and will be investigated under Section 6(1)(c) and Section 15(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63,” he said.

The operation involved eight officers from the Sipitang Immigration Office.

The department reaffirmed its commitment to continuous enforcement against illegal immigrants within the jurisdiction of the Sipitang Immigration Office.

It stressed that stern action would also be taken against any individual or party found harbouring or employing illegal immigrants.

The department also called on the public to cooperate by providing information on the presence of undocumented foreigners in their areas, adding that no compromise would be given to those who violate the law, particularly in matters involving security.
