Kota Kinabalu: A 19-year-old youth was charged in the Magistrate’s Court here with allegedly trafficking 206.68g of 3,4-Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA).
No plea was recorded from Jack Goh when the charge was read before Magistrate Marilyn Kelvin, with the alleged offence said to have occurred at 2.30am on Sept 18 in front of a shop at Asia City.
Goh was charged under Section 39B(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, punishable under Section 39B(2), which carries the death penalty or life imprisonment and, if not sentenced to death, whipping of not less than 12 strokes upon conviction; the case was fixed for mention on Oct 19 and Goh was ordered to be remanded further.
Meanwhile, two men, Sudirman Suwardi, 26, and Johan Jahari, 24, claimed trial before Magistrate Dzul Elmy Yunus to allegedly causing hurt to a 25-year-old man at Padang Kontena, University Apartment 1, Jalan Sulaman, at 10.30pm on Jan 7.
The duo are alleged to have committed the offence with two accomplices still at large and were released on RM3,000 bail each in two local sureties, with the case fixed for mention on Oct 26, while Deputy Public Prosecutor Akaash Singh appeared for the prosecution.
