19-year-old charged with molesting 8-year-old niece

Kota Kinabalu: A 19-year-old was charged with five counts of committing sexual physical harassment against his niece.

The teenager pleaded not guilty before Sessions Court Judge Elsie Primus to all the charges, Monday.

On the first count, the teenager is accused of committing the offence against the eight-year-old girl by kissing her mouth and thigh at 5pm in March on a sofa of a house in Kudat.

On the second count, he allegedly committed similar offence against the same girl by touching her private part and kissing her cheeks at 5pm in May inside a room of the same house in Kudat.

Read more On the third count, the teenager allegedly repeated the same offence against the girl by asking her to touch his private part at the same place as the second count.

On the fourth count, he is accused of committing the similar offence against the girl by kissing her private part and putting his private part on hers at 2pm in August inside the room of the same house.

On the fifth count, he allegedly committed the offence again on the same girl by asking the girl to touch his private part at the same place, also in August.

He was charged under Section 14(b) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 provides for a jail term of up to 20 years, and whipping, on conviction.

The court set Nov 1 this year for pre-trial case management and no bail was offered to the teenager pending the disposal of his case.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Tham Pou Jin appeared for the prosecution.
