A recent post has gained traction online after a female student was safely rescued by the Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) after she was found sitting on the ledge of a hostel building in Serdang, Selangor.

In a Facebook post, JBPM Seri Kembangan shared details of the incident after receiving an emergency call at around 7:37 AM involving a 19-year-old local student.

Student safely rescued 

According to a photo shared in the post, the student was seen sitting on a ledge on the first floor of the hostel building alongside another female friend. It is believed that her friend was trying to calm her down.

“The Balai Bomba dan Penyelamat Seri Kembangan had a casual conversation with the 19-year-old student and asked why she was sitting there,” the post read.

Meanwhile, Operations Commander PBK I Nor Azuwan bin Zulghoni said that upon arriving at the scene, personnel conducted a size-up assessment before successfully concluding the operation at 8:06 AM.

Response from the victim’s mother

Taking to the comment section, a woman claiming to be the victim’s mother alleged that her daughter had been receiving treatment at the hospital for anxiety.

“She has anxiety and has been receiving treatment at Hospital Serdang all this time. She was previously bullied, and when it happened again, she became stressed. She wasn’t even aware of what she was doing,” she wrote.

Nor Azuwan added that the victim is currently undergoing treatment at the hospital and receiving medication for anxiety and hallucinations.
