Lion dance performances are a common sight during Chinese New Year (CNY) and often helmed by those from the Chinese community.
Thus, it came as a huge surprise for Malaysians after a viral video showed a Malay girl taking part in a lion dance competition along with her Chinese partner.
Performed lion dance skillfully
In a 9-minute video posted by @ahpeng2830 on TikTok, it showed the two girls showing off their lion dance skills at a competition, with one of them in charge of the lion’s head and the other of the rear.
Throughout the performance, the girls wowed the crowd with their flexibility and superb balancing skills as they danced around the various props placed at the venue.
Towards the end, the girls removed the lion costume to applause and cheers from the crowd for their amazing performance.
