THE Kuala Lumpur High Court has ordered 1MDB to pay RM225,000 in legal costs to Riza Abdul Aziz and his two companies, following the withdrawal of suits against them.
The ruling was made today by Judge Raja Ahmad Mohzanuddin Shah Raja Mohzan after 1MDB decided to drop the suits last month.
No reasons were given for the withdrawal of the action seeking to recover allegedly embezzled funds from the fund.
1MDB had been seeking declarations that Riza and the two Red Granite companies he controlled are liable to account for the misappropriated funds.
Red Granite Pictures, co-founded by Riza and Joey McFarland, had produced the Academy Award-winning film 'The Wolf of Wall Street' and was at the centre of the legal dispute.
The legal representatives in the case were Ignatius Joel Nathan for 1MDB, and Tania Scivetti for Riza and his companies. – March 7, 2025
