THE suit filed by 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) and 10 other companies against Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor over the purchase of luxury goods totalling more than US$346 million allegedly obtained from misappropriated 1MDB funds will be heard at the High Court, starting June 28, 2027.
Rosmah’s counsel, Datuk Seri Rajan Navaratnam, said Judicial Commissioner Datuk Muhammad Adam @ Edward Abdullah scheduled the trial on Wednesday (July 8) during case management proceedings.
The hearing will run from June 28 to July 2, July 5 to 9, and July 19 to 30 next year.
"The court had also set Sept 28 this year to hear the plaintiffs' applications to amend the writ of summons and obtain a Mareva injunction against Rosmah," he said.
A Mareva injunction is a temporary order that prevents the wife of former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak from disposing of assets totalling US$346 million, whether in the form of credit, company shares, properties or others until the case is disposed of.
The suit filed on May 9, 2024, involves 1MDB and its five subsidiaries, namely 1MDB Energy Holdings Limited, 1MDB Energy Limited, 1MDB Energy (Langat) Limited, Global Diversified Investment Company Limited and SRC International Sdn Bhd.
The other five companies involved are Affinity Equity International Partners Limited, Alsen Chance Holdings Limited, Blackrock Commodities (Global) Limited, Blackstone Asia Real Estate Partners Limited and Brightstone Jewellery Limited.
The plaintiffs are seeking an order for Rosmah to pay US$346,010,489 or any other amount deemed appropriate by the court.
They are also seeking a declaration that the first six plaintiffs are the rightful owners of the luxury goods allegedly in Rosmah's possession.
The suit was originally filed against Rosmah as the first defendant and Singapore national Shabnam Naraindas Daswani as the second defendant.
However, in April last year, the plaintiffs withdrew the suit against Shabnam. – July 9, 2026
