2,750ha Penampang areas to be flood-free by December

PUTATAN: The Moyog Integrated River Basin Development (PLSB) Package Three is expected to be completed by December 31.

To ensure its smooth implementation, Deputy Prime Minister II Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, who was on a two-day working visit to Sabah, monitored the flood mitigation project, here, Saturday.

Fadillah who is also Energy Transition and Public Utilities Minister was accompanied by the Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick and Public Works Assistant Minister Datuk Limus Jury.

The Federal Government is confident that the completion of the Moyog PLSB project will positively impact some 38,000 residents in the vicinity by freeing 2,750 hectares of the area from flood threats, as occurred previously.

Read more The Moyog PLSB is an initiative of the Federal Government to reduce the floods in areas around Sg Moyog especially in Kepayan, Kibabaig Township, Donggongon Township, and Putatan Township as well as to improve the people’s quality of life in these areas.

The project is funded by the Federal Government involving an allocation of RM131 million and implemented in phases through the appointed contractor, Korporat Muda Sdn. Bhd, from June 12, 2017.

To date, the project is 82.02 per cent complete with the remaining work involving land acquisition issues and Telekom Malaysia utility issues.
