
Two miscreants, who were nabbed in connection with an attempt to murder case, suffered bullet injuries in their legs after they tried to flee from police custody on Monday evening.
As per information, the CIA-1 unit of Kurukshetra police had taken the accused for the recovery of weapons during the ongoing remand.
During the recovery, the accused used the weapon in an attempt to flee and opened fire at the police party. In response, the CIA-1 personnel also opened fire, and the main accused Robin alias Monu, a resident of Shahzadpur Patti, and the main shooter Aman, a resident of Karnal, suffered bullet injuries. They were taken to the Civil Hospital in Kurukshetra for treatment.
The accused were arrested in connection with the attempt to murder case of Sunil Kumar alias Bunty, who is engaged in a mining business.
CIA-1 in-charge Prateek Kumar said unidentified miscreants had opened fire at Sunil Kumar alias Bunty on May 31. He had suffered two bullet injuries on his thigh and neck. An FIR was registered at Shahabad police station. During the investigation, on June 2, the CIA-1 arrested the main accused Robin alias Monu, Vijay, Aman and Rahul.
The victim, Sunil Kumar, and the main accused Robin are both involved in the mining business. Due to this, there was an old enmity between them, following which Robin hired miscreants to eliminate Sunil. The accused were produced in court, which sent Vijay to a three-day police remand, while Robin, Aman and Rahul were sent to a five-day police remand.
On Monday evening, the CIA-1 unit took Robin, Aman, and Rahul to the backside of the Pipli bus stand, where the accused had hidden the weapon after the firing incident. Meanwhile, the accused used the same country-made pistol to open fire on the police party. During the firing, Robin and Aman sustained bullet injuries, while the third accused remained safe.
During the remand, the police recovered two four-wheelers, two two-wheelers and around Rs 18 lakh cash from their possession.
The CIA-1 in-charge informed that the miscreants Aman and Rahul had demanded Rs 10 lakh from Robin to shoot Sunil, out of which Rs 8.50 lakh has been recovered. Another accused, who arranged the shooters, is abroad. Robin had paid Rs 20 lakh to the accused abroad, of which Rs 9.50 lakh has been recovered. The previous records of the accused are being obtained.
