Two labourers were killed and three others reportedly injured after a truck rammed into a labourers’ shed opposite the Tehsil Road in Malout town on the Dabwali-Malout Road on Thursday morning.
According to sources, the labourers were waiting at the roadside shed for daily work when the truck, coming from the Dabwali side, lost control and rammed into the structure.
The impact left two labourers dead on the spot, while three others sustained injuries. Local residents and passers-by rushed to the scene and informed the police.
Sources said the truck driver was apprehended at the spot soon after the accident.
Police teams reached the site and initiated an investigation into the incident. The injured were taken to the local civil hospital.
Dr Sunil Bansal, Chief Medical Officer, Muktsar, said one of the injured was referred to Guru Gobind Singh Medical College and Hospital, Faridkot, due to serious injuries.
