The flood in Shah Alam yesterday (April 11) claimed its first life, which involved a Sri Lankan man and a dog.

In an official statement by PDRM in Shah Alam, Mohd Iqbal Bin Ibrahim, the Chief Police of Shah Alam, said a report about the discovery of a corpse was made around 10:51 am. Police also confirmed that a dog was found dead near the 27-year-old Sri Lankan man.

The corpse was found in a storeroom for construction items, which also served as the deceased’s room. Police found no signs of struggle on the deceased’s body or any injuries that could cause his death.

Police had to wait for TNB to shut off the electricity before retrieving the body, which was later sent to Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah in Klang for a post-mortem.

On the same day, PDRM revealed another flood victim died due to electrocution, which also happened in Shah Alam.

As per a report by the New Straits Times, PDRM said the body of a 24-year-old man was found lying face down at a single-storey house in Padang Jawa, Shah Alam. The report was made by the public around 6 pm.

Initial investigations suggest that the victim was electrocuted while using a mobile phone that was being charged during the flood in the house. Both deaths have been classified as sudden deaths.

PDRM also reminded the public to be cautious when using electrical and electronic items during the flood season to avoid the risk of electrocution.
