Two more accused wanted in a case registered at the Pinjore police station were arrested on Wednesday following an encounter at the HSIIDC industrial area near Alipur under the Chandimandir police station limits.
The accused have been identified as Deepesh, a resident of Charkhi Dadri, and Yogesh, a resident of Bhiwani. Their arrest comes a day after two other accused, Ashish and Viren, were apprehended in connection with the same case.
With the latest arrests, the total number of accused held in FIR Number 163/26 has gone up to four within 24 hours.
DCP (Crime and Traffic) Amrinder Singh, who led Wednesday’s operation, told The Tribune that the crime team had laid a trap after receiving specific information about the movement of the duo in the Alipur industrial area.
“Acting on credible inputs, our team intercepted the accused. They attempted to flee and opened fire to evade arrest. The police team retaliated and both were overpowered and taken into custody,” the officer said.
Police recovered a .32-bore Beretta pistol and two live cartridges from the accused.
Police said efforts were on to ascertain the exact role of each accused and to trace the source of the weapon.
