A 62-year-old Malaysian man has been missing since 3 September and after nearly a month, he still hasn’t been found.
PDRM in Kedah, however, now has an idea as to where they might locate the missing man, Sabari Baharom. According to a statement, 2 suspects who were arrested for Sabari’s disappearance, both aged 26 and 38 admitted to throwing him into a river after tying his hands and sealing his mouth with duct tape.
The case went from a missing person’s case to a murder case and is now being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code (Act 574) for murder.
The body of Sabari, however, has yet to be located and the search mission is still ongoing at Sungai Padang Terap in Jitra, Kedah, where the perpetrators claimed they threw his body.
According to Sabari’s son, the suspect is the contractor who was tasked to renovate Sabari’s house in Baling, Kedah. The other suspect is his relative.
“What they did to my father was outright cruel,” said Sabari’s son.
Here’s a brief chronology of Sabari’s disappearance
As per a report by Harian Metro, on the night of 3 September, Sabari left his house and his family members tried to contact him, but to no avail. Oddly, 2 days after his disappearance, multiple withdrawals were detected from Sabari’s bank account to an unknown person.
Sabari’s family members wasted no time and immediately lodged a police report and on their end, they launched the search mission on social media, in hope that their father would return home safely.
On 20 September, the police found Sabari’s car completely burnt at a garbage disposal area in Pulau Belantik, Sik, Kedah.
Both suspects who admitted to throwing Sabari into the river were arrested on Friday (September 27).
