It’s been about five months since Proton launched the facelifted 2025 Proton X70, and this updated C-segment SUV is finally getting wireless Android Auto connectivity. Offered via an over-the-air (OTA) software update rollout, the refreshed SUV becomes the first Proton model to be offered standard with both wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

This news was made public via a software update instruction video posted by Proton Car’s official Facebook page, where it showcases a step-by-step installation guide for X70 owners to update the software for their 12.3-inch infotainment head unit. Once updated, Android users can finally access some of their favourite mobile apps, like Google Maps and Spotify, with ease, thus removing the need to use their mobile phones when driving.

The wireless Android Auto update for the X70 facelift came in rather late, with the national automaker previously rolling out the software update for wireless Apple CarPlay to the car in just two months after making its debut. Both of them were not available straight away from launch, as Proton cited some certification works were yet to be done by then.

With the 2025 Proton X70 now getting both wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, we can expect these updates to arrive as standard in upcoming Proton models. However, there is no news on its availability in existing Proton models, with both the X90 and S70 previously tipped to get the software update.
