Registration of interests for the facelifted 2025 Xpeng G6 has opened locally, featuring three variants. Launch imminent?

Months after making its global debut in China, the facelifted 2025 Xpeng G6 is finally heading to Malaysia, with its registration of interests (ROI) now open via Xpeng Malaysia’s official website.

Interestingly, it seems like the updated G6 will now be offered in three variants, with the current entry-level 580 Pro variant now dropped from the local lineup. Instead, the updated G6 lineup will start with the RWD Long Range Pro.

Although no detailed specifications were shared for now, we looked at the Singapore-spec model as a reference, where the RWD Long Range Pro is juiced by an 80.8-kWh battery pack that is good for up to 525 km of WLTP range. Said battery can support both 11 kW AC and 450 kW DC charging methods, with the latter enabling a 10-80% charge to be completed in just 12 minutes.

Power is provided by a single, rear-mounted (RWD) electric motor rated at 292 hp (218 kW) and 440 Nm, allowing a century sprint time of 6.7 seconds and a V-max of 202 km/h.

Next in line is the new AWD Performance variant, which uses the same battery pack as the RWD Long Range Pro but benefits from a peppier dual-motor AWD setup delivering a combined output of 480 hp (358 kW) and 660 Nm—again, using the SG-spec model as a reference. The century sprint time has now been shortened to just 4.7 seconds, at the expense of a shorter WLTP range of 510 km.

Last but not least, the Malaysian market will also be getting a special AWD Black Edition variant of the facelifted G6. Again, no details were shared for now, but it seems this special variant just carried some visual and cosmetic upgrades from the AWD Performance variant, so we can expect it to boast similar powertrain and battery specs.

On the visual front, it appears that the local-spec G6 facelift will get the same design changes as what we saw on its Chinese counterpart, with the most prominent changes being its new full-width LED DRL at the front, as well as the new dual five-spoke alloy rims the EV rolls on.

Another change is in the colourway, where the updated G6 is now offered in five colourways, namely Stellar Purple, Midnight Black, Graphite Gray, Silver Frost, and Arctic White. This also means the previous signature orange hue has been dropped from the lineup.

That said, the only way for you to get the Midnight Black on the AWD Performance variant is to opt for the special AWD Black Edition, which is solely offered in said dark hue. Additionally, some of its body parts, like the wheels, have also been painted in black to match its namesake.

Apart from those, not many details were shared by Xpeng Malaysia regarding the facelifted Xpeng G6. But given its ROI is now open online, we can expect this updated midsize EV SUV to make its much-awaited local debut very soon…
