2026 Proton S70 Now In Malaysia With 4-Cylinder 1.5T Engine

The Proton S70 has been updated with the new 4-cylinder 1.5L turbo engine.

The updated 2026 Proton S70 has officially arrived with meaningful changes across its performance, styling, and connectivity. Positioned as a flagship choice for young professionals and growing families, the refreshed S70 focuses on delivering a premium experience at an accessible price point.

At the heart of the 2026 Proton S70 is the i-GT 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine, developed in partnership with Geely. This is the same engine now found in the X50 and X70. Paired with a 7-speed Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT), the powertrain delivers a robust 181 PS and 290 Nm of torque. This enables the sedan to sprint from 0-100 km/h in just 7.5 seconds.

Despite its sporty orientation, the S70 remains efficient with a fuel consumption rating of 5.7L/100km. For 2026, the powertrain calibration has been refined to offer smoother gear shifts and improved Noise, Vibration, and Harshness (NVH) levels, ensuring a more composed drive in both urban and highway conditions.

What’s New: Styling and Features

The 2026 refresh brings several noticeable exterior updates. The S70 now features a new headlamp design and a fresh 17-inch alloy wheel design. At the rear, a distinctive LED tail-light bar with rhythmic lighting adds a modern touch, while top-tier variants receive a redesigned aerokit as standard. A new exterior color, Ruby Red, joins the existing palette.

The most significant interior upgrade is the 12.3-inch floating infotainment head unit, which now supports wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto. This long-awaited feature provides seamless smartphone integration, complemented by five USB ports and a wireless charger to keep all devices powered.

Safety and ADAS Level 2

Safety remains a core pillar, with the S70 equipped with ADAS Level 2. This suite includes 13 intelligent features such as Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Adaptive and Intelligent Cruise Control (ACC & ICC), and Lane Keep Assist (LKA). A high-resolution 360-degree camera with 3D display further enhances driver awareness during parking and low-speed maneuvers.
