A 21-year-old motorcyclist tragically lost her life yesterday after colliding with a vehicle making a U-turn along Jalan Dato Onn in Bandar Penawar.
The accident occurred at approximately 4:50 PM when the motorcyclist crashed into the right side of a Perodua Kenari driven by a 51-year-old man. According to initial police investigations, the driver was attempting to make a U-turn from the left lane, which led to the fatal collision as the motorcyclist approached from behind.
The impact left the motorcyclist with severe head injuries, and she was pronounced dead at the scene. Her body has since been transported to the forensic unit at Kota Tinggi Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
District police chief Superintendent Yusof Othman confirmed that the car driver escaped unhurt.
In a statement, Superintendent Yusof urged road users to exercise caution and strictly adhere to traffic regulations to prevent such tragedies. He also appealed to anyone with information about the incident to contact the investigating officer, Inspector Mohd Zamiruddin Yaakob, at 011-3910 5277.
